To: TVA Club Presidents and Board
of Directors
From: Karl Kittinger
Date: December 2004
Subject: TVA Newsletter
GREETINGS: The first order of business is
to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and the best during the
upcoming year. I am looking forward to the New Year, the AVA Convention
in June, and the many walks that are being sanctioned throughout the state
(to include some new YR events for 2005).
BULK MAILING: There is
a lot of materiel being forwarded in this mailing. The Minutes of the TVA
Board Meeting and the TVA General Membership Meeting in August 2004 are
enclosed. Please read them over carefully and bring any errors/corrections
to the meeting in February. Please note the policy change shown under new
business C) as it pertains to elimination (on a trial basis) of the
payment of TVA participation fees (Year Round Events only) during calendar
year 2005. The club representative at the February meeting should bring
along a copy of the August General Membership Meeting minutes. I am also
enclosing a copy of AVA Form 201U(IRS) (June 2004) Club Officer/Annual IRS
501(c)(3) Update. All TVA clubs that are under the AVA IRS umbrella are
required to submit this form annually in January. The completed form is
mailed directly to AVA Headquarters. There is no requirement to submit
through the state association. However, if there has been a change in club
officers you are still required to submit AVA Form 201U (October 2002) [copy
attached] through the state association and regional director to the AVA.
This is the only way we have of knowing who the club officers are and for
AVA to update their point of contact listings.
TVA SECRETARY: Due to lack of a nomination at the
TVA General Membership Meeting in August for this position, the TVA Board of
Directors were tasked to appoint a Secretary. Catherine Kellner (current
President of Houston Happy Hikers) has been appointed to the position. An
updated roster of TVA Officers is also included in this mailing. This copy
should replace the listing currently in your TVA handbook.
EVENT BROCHURES: Becky
Lindig continues to be the approving authority for event flyers/brochures
for Texas events (except Year Round/Seasonal Events) and will remain so
until you are notified differently. Becky’s address is 1003 Avenue D,
Fredericksburg, TX 78624 or e-mail to
alin786@ktc.com
MEMORIAL/MIDNIGHT
WALKS: The TVA will again be hosting the Memorial Walk (31 December) and
the Midnight Walk (New Years Eve) in Fredericksburg. The start point for
both walks will be at St. Joseph Hall, 200 block of West San Antonio
Street. There will be workers walk for the Memorial Walk starting at 8 AM.
Please join us at this time and complete the walk so you will be available
to work during the walk. Charles will appreciate having plenty of workers
to help with this event. The TVA will also be hosting a wine and cheese
social beginning at 11 PM (31 December) and ending when the midnight walk
begins. Please plan on joining us for this event. It is a great
opportunity to visit and talk with our many Volkssporting friends from
around the state. I have included a copy of the flyer for these events.
Feel free to make copies as needed.
Also, if you have had
any club members who have passed away during the year please send their
names to Ellen Ott so she can include them on the Memorial Board. Ellen’s
address and e-mail are listed on the TVA Officers listing.
REUNION EVENTS: The
TVA Reunion events have been sanctioned for March 5 & 6, 2005 in The Grove,
TX (Coryell County). These events will start from the W.J. Graham General
Merchandise building in old town. Additional information is forthcoming.
Mark your calendars NOW and plan on attending these events.
2005 STARTING POINT:
The 2005 Starting Point book is out and available for purchase. I highly
recommend that you review the information concerning your Year Round Event(s)
for accuracy. If corrections are required you can edit the information and
the correct information will be shown on the AVA web site.
Additions/corrections WILL ONLY appear on the web site –
additions/corrections WILL NOT be printed in TAW. If making
additions/corrections I recommend you enter the data in the comments field
and preface it with the statement CHANGE TO STARTING POINT INFORMATION.
Again, I and the TVA
Board of Directors along with the SW Regional Director, wish you a joyous
Holiday Season all the best in the New Year. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

IVV Vice President
J.
Ferguson, SW Regional Director
